We will be sharing some common, and not so common graphic design terms to help you understand the ‘lingo’ we may use.

First up is one of our faves – Typography. No design is complete without some beautiful typography!

The Wikipedia definition for typography is: the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable, and appealing when displayed. It’s subjects like these that make a designer’s heart sing. Type is so much more than just the alphabet. Each typeface takes single letters and shapes and forms them into something a reader still recognises as the original letter but in a slightly different shape and style. A chosen typeface or font can make or break a design. Think of a law firm using Comic Sans… or anyone besides a preschool really. A font choice can change the whole feel of the words they are displaying.
